New Year

Wow - I haven't blogged in a while! I think about it every now and then, but it just hasn't been a priority.

Working on all the things that have come my way has been my joy!

I've continued to stay busy enough with Avon to keep it going, unexpectedly got to participate in a grand opening where I got to set up a table to show off XanGo, and then got the chance to build a website for friends at church.

Aglow always keeps me busy, and I'm looking forward to getting all the stuff in my house straightened, sorted and all in order.

I continue every day to be extremely joyful to be unemployed, I am so blessed!

11:11 on 11/11

I had promised myself, and told my husband, that the next time the Lord woke me up, I would get up and go meet with Him ~

The other night, when I rolled over to look at the clock, it was 11:11, on 11/11. I got up directly and searched the Word for each and every 11:11.

A couple of the verses really spoke to me as far as being an Aglow leader - the first one was Numbers 11:11, when Moses said to God "Why have you put this burden of these people on me?"

Then in Deu. 11:11, the land where we go is full of hills and valleys which drink the rain of heaven. Hallelujah!

1 Samuel 11:11 says that Saul put the people in three companies, then they went into the enemies camp and slew the Ammonites until midday.

And the most impacting verse, II Kings 11:11 ~ and the guard stood round the king from the right to the left, along the altar and the temple.

This was the boy-king Joash, it really spoke to me as the Area President of Aglow had recently helped me realize the fact that I am the youngest member of this full board we have installed, the first time this Lighthouse has had a full Executive Board in at least five years. I am flanked by warriors who will uphold, strengthen and protect me, and I will seek the Lord in this leadership.

Working My Dreams

What a day! What a week! Is it only Tuesday?

I woke at 11:29 last night to write down a dream, and then checked online to see when would be the best time to go out and see the Leonids. I was glad to wake up again at 4:30, and went outside to look up into the sky. I saw about a dozen, maybe just 11, lights in the sky as the particles of comet dust burned up in the atmosphere. What a blessing to be able to not worry about losing sleep over taking the time to see the wonders of the heavens!

I had such a productive day yesterday, at least a busy one, I know those two don't always go together.

I finally wrote the letter to the Aglow Advisors that we are releasing after several years of service as our Executive Board gears up for this new season. I enjoyed talking to the Area President for a little while and promised to make some phone calls today to encourage more attendance at our Leadership Development retreat in a couple of weeks.

I got my Avon order entered online and received a phone call from the assistant for the District Manager for the District that I should be in. She invited me to a local meeting led by the District Manager last night and I was glad to be able to go to that. Now if they can just help me get into the right District, that will help me be more excited, especially since I have my first representative to recommend and sponsor! I was glad to learn too that there is another week before this Campaign's order have to be entered for this District.

Out of the blue, maybe I should say Yellow, I got a phone call from a young lady who was looking for a supplement. I was able to talk with her quite some time and recommend that she try XanGo juice and Eleviv, knowing that there is a good chance those products would help her much more than what she thinks she is looking for. It was neat to find out that she is attending Beauty School since my daughter just graduated and qualified for her cosmetology license.

That call served as another reminder to me to write an article about print Yellow Page advertising still being an effective method of advertising, despite what all the online directories will tell you. I've sold both and believe in both ~ but the truth is, you will still get more calls from print advertising. It's also such a good value because the ad that made my phone ring yesterday was paid for once, several years ago, but continues to be printed, in both the utility and the independent Yellow Page Directories as a free listing just because I paid for it one year in the Yellow Book Directory. You just can't beat that deal!

This morning I have already been able to deliver and collect for an Avon order and will do several tasks for Aglow throughout the day. I'm also looking a little bit into writing articles to add to my work from home income.

I love my life!

The Yo-yo doesn't work!

Hard to believe, but I guess I have to, that new yo-yo just doesn't work! What's funny is that when the next person is told that it doesn't work, of course what happens is that person takes it, determined that "you must just not be doing it right" only to see it hopelessly hang at the bottom of the string, not at all inclined to respond to rolling back up the same string it just went down.

Doesn't it know what's expected of it? Why would it not conform to its intended purpose? Did it's creator not use the materials that would enable it to perform it's destiny?

Is it yet possible to tinker with it, maybe fit it with new string? what about returning it to the manufacturer... made in China.

I'm sure they would just laugh at me if I returned it to the grocery store where it was bought. It must just be relegated to the endless pile of useless toys or the trash bin... But what about the boy who was so looking forward to the new yo-yo?

Anybody know where I can get a Duncan?

Stopped to smell the Roses in November

It's hard to believe another week has passed - tomorrow will be four whole weeks since I had to report to work at 8am!

It has been incredibly busy, rewarding, exhausting... and I am still loving every minute of it!

It was one day last week when I made the short walk out to the mail box and as I walked by, I smelled the faint perfume of the tiny white roses by the short mud lane that serves as our driveway. I said 'Thank You Lord' for small pleasures and on the way back, I deliberately stopped and drew in deep breaths and for maybe the first time, had a real appreciation for the time worn phrase, "stop and smell the roses".

Somehow I doubt that whoever penned that quote was thinking it could be November when that exquisite opportunity presented itself.

Many things are on my mind, the looming of the holidays and all that entails, the calendar quickly filling with activities and sending my baby girl off to Dallas driving alone to begin her new life.

I must do what is most important, spend time with my Lord. He has been waking me in the middle of the night, beckoning me, and I have gotten up, gone to the bathroom, gone back to bed and deeply to sleep until time to get up.

I told my husband this morning that the next time I wake, I will get up and meet with Him and visit for awhile before returning to my dreams.

Nothing gives me more pleasure than to know His Presence and allow His words to encourage and inspire me - and knowing that I can spend all the time He needs, because I have no pressing engagement at 8am.

Voting in Progress

I started out my day by thinking of voting and emailed the Aglow International email list to do the same. I also posted a reminder and link on Facebook and emailed my husband. Voting is so important, even when we think we don't really care much about the issues at hand. Make your voice heard!

We had an Aglow Executive Board meeting last night, it will be so so exciting to see how God will move on our behalf as we move into a new year with a full board for the first time in at least 5 years.

I expect to be able to install and setup my friends computer today, one of my favorite things!

Blogging is fun, but so many places to do it - which ones are most important? I just like to write, it helps me gather my thoughts. Easy to type here, then copy for CarrieNorton.com. Also using BetterNetworker, Plaxo and MerchantCircle some - and then, even my Avon site has a place for me to blog!

It was helpful for me today to type out in an email what my plans are for replacing the income my full time job provided. It sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Will be interested to hear the take of the consultant providing a complimentary consultation when we talk tomorrow.

Google Analytics is cool, fun to see where clicks came from as I figure out how to increase them. Just a little here and there every day, as I keep working, my pipeline will be filled and my income will follow.

This Friday will be the first one without a paycheck, so hubby a little nervous. Through the holidays may be slow, but will give me the time I need to put things into place, and clean up this house!

Mission Accomplished!

Whew - sorted my entire primary yahoo in-box into appropriate folders - I love an empty in-box! Only when it means I have sorted all the emails LOL! For that box, it was over 2,000 - the biggest task first!

Today is the first day since Feb. 26, 1993 that we have not been the parents of a teenager. Early January it will be over and we will do it again until 2017. A 60 day respite, sure it won't change much, but gives us a breather anyway.

Lots of other things on my plate today, but I don't have to eat it all if I don't want to, I love that!

I plan to make my first cold call to a contractor to see about selling a website, hope I get that done!

From the Comfort of my Home

Still wish I could help find my daughter's drivers license - she needs it badly in order to take her test on Saturday. At least I had the opportunity to look!

I checked with my friend that I will be installing hardware and software for - the computer just shipped today but she already received Quickbooks and the printer - so will be able to get on that as soon as it is delivered. Shouldn't have too far to go though, Dell ships out of Round Rock right?

Took two sizable Avon orders by email and dropped off a book at the convenience store. Clerk asked whether Skin-So-Soft really keeps fleas off dogs - I said I don't know but will see if I can find out!

Finally hung the plaque my sister sent for my birthday, think I got it straight ~ it probably isn't perfect, but I like it and I bet no one will go to the trouble to move it!

My son got to stay after school to practice for All-Region band tryouts and he asked me to take him to school this morning after I fixed him hot cereal for breakfast. I love my life!

I did talk to the Chevrolet house yesterday about maybe working for them, but told them I am not sure I am ready to give up this freedom... I really am not ~ of course I would be an asset to the team, and maybe I would enjoy helping the Business Development Center with online selling ~ but definitely not ready to go there yet.

What joy to be able to meet a friend for lunch and talk for over two hours! It is amazing to see how the Lord makes Divine Connections - He always knows who we will resonate with. She is also already helping me spread the word and will be an Avon customer.

Picked up the Aglow bag so I can take it with me to Conference, leave early tomorrow morning. Just realized that Mike Bickle is one of the keynote speakers - wow, this is going to be so good! Graham Cooke and Asher Intrater and Brian Ming - for 4 days!

Listened and watched a webinar with Charles Harper of GainMindShare.com and learned a new search utility - that was cool, I love learning stuff and I love internet stuff!

Jeff looked at my site and gave me a few of his impressions - I so appreciate his input!

Also got Molly on the phone with my friend who is trying XanGo, only for a minute, but some minutes are so valuable!

Lots to do today, posted a link on Facebook and am updating Merchant Circle this morning.

At some point I will have to stop and pack!

Doing the right things

Yesterday I got quite a bit done, still lots more - but wow, how nice to decide what to do when and to be able to adjust when needed!

I got to give an Avon book to the video store lady, and have a good excuse to follow up since I need to pay the late fee, didn't have a new checkbook with me. Placed my Avon Campaign 22 order and ordered Camp. 24 brochures.

Talked to Deb at Contractor Businessman to get permission to use text off their website as I build mine, and let her know that I looked at the source code and saw that there weren't any keywords in the meta tags of the site. I was looking for ideas as I was coding mine. I also talked to her a little about how the Better Business Bureau works, and the advertising I sold for them. Didn't go into it a lot with her, but it looks to me like the program I was in didn't go on very long after all.

I installed Google Analytics on my site, and decided that I will build another page for each of the main business things I am doing and have the links on the front page go to pages within my site, then provide the links out to XanGo, Avon and Contractor Businessman. I also will build a links page to some of My Favorite Things.

Talked to my friend whose first case of XanGo had arrived, and made plans to put her on the phone with Miss Molly for recommendations on how she she should begin drinking the juice for the best results.

Busy day with dropping off and picking up Haley and Danny. Then as I was fixing supper, something got hold of me and I baked a Chocolate Cream pie - my first! Need more practice to get it exactly right, but ~ yum.

As I had dinner going, I listened to Sherman Unkefer on our team conference call - wow, listening him to tell his story of rising and falling income is amazing. When it fell, it was from almost 3million, and now is back on the increase and over 2.5 million annually. The neat thing is how down-to-earth Sherman is, and realizing how important a tool the Magic Wand message really is. That CD is what got my interest in the business, even if it was a cassette at the time!

Bird out the door

Funny - I had to let a bird out of the fireplace today. I shut doors in the house and opened the front door, but couldn't coax it out or see it again. I left the room and after I had forgotten about it (and closed the front door), there it was in the kitchen. I jumped up and re-opened the door, and out flew the beautiful blue bird.

Made me remember how I had told a friend at work recently that the bird was me.

You see, there was a motion activated bird that we had set by the door at the shop, and it notified us when someone had entered (or left) the building.

Once a live bird got into the building and was hurt. The bird was brought in and after flapping around in the office a little while, they bought a cage for it, but it quickly got better and was let go.

That's when the doorbell bird was placed in the cage, by the door, and of course got more comments than ever by those coming and going.

Recently, the bird was moved and was out of the cage and was sitting on the floor by my desk. The next thing I knew, I didn't know where the bird was, and didn't really think about it. Then, the bird was back in the cage, and back in the accounting office.

As the decision was confirmed that I would be leaving, the Lord impressed on me that the bird was like me. I had been wounded, healed, placed into a protective space and hidden, now I would be released to fly! Hallelujah!

Making Progress!

My excitement has not waned one bit for the freedom I have stepped into! Have made progress this morning on my primary website, and even installed a blog - look out world here I come! WooHoo!
